In a monumental stride toward achieving a pollution-free public transportation network, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially dedicated 200 new electric vehicle (EV) buses to the service of Delhi on Friday, April 17. Flagging off the fleet from the East Vinod Nagar Depot, the Chief Minister signaled a transformative era for the national capital and its surrounding regions, bringing significant relief and a major update to residents. During the ceremony, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that her administration is operating in mission mode to fully transition Delhi’s public transport to electric power. With this latest addition, the total number of EV buses in the city has surpassed 4,500, moving steadily toward a strategic target of 7,000 buses by the conclusion of 2026.

The day’s administrative milestones extended beyond the city limits with the inaugural launch of a new interstate e-bus service operating between Delhi and Rohtak. Furthermore, the government marked the expansion of transit infrastructure by dedicating a new bus terminal at Madanpur Khadar and inaugurating a sophisticated new administrative building at the DTC East Vinod Nagar Depot. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reiterated that the government's new EV policy is actively incentivizing the public to adopt clean transportation through attractive subsidies on electric vehicles. The high-profile event was attended by cabinet colleague Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh along with other esteemed dignitaries, underscoring the collective official commitment to a sustainable urban future and a radical reduction in the region's carbon footprint.
